My new challenge

progress

Progress is slow....but I have made progress.
I have started my 1000 word piece, a diary entry type piece about travelling.
And I have found my subject for the competition. Now - I want it to be funny so I need to sort that out too.

Not much - but I did all the housework, and tidied my study so that it can be moved round and made "RIGHT"  as soon as J has time to help me. At least I know where things are now.

Challenges for this week......

1. A piece for the writing group - I need 1000 words for that, so that its the correct length for the group. I want it to be as good as possible as it will be the first thing they hear/read that I have actually written and that is nervewracking as it is such a huge group - quite daunting. I would prefer a small group of 7/8 people I know and trust, but this is a roomful of about 20 strangers, some of them with quite powerful personalities and with personal axes to grind, so I have to be careful. I am not sure about writing groups but will give it a try. I don;t have to go back.

2. I wrote quite a number of pieces of autobiography for my writing course last year and will try and put them in some semblance of order and fit them with my other pieces and see what I actually have. I think I know how to put the whole thing into a book now, the idea came to me in a moment of inspiration last week, so maybe I can now begin to work at it.

3. I will re-write the plan for my novel - I need to do this, as one of the characters has turned out to have the same job as my previously unknown brother in law (!)  so I have to change this at least so my newly found sister won;t fall out with me.

4. I need to write for a competition - the biography of a thing.....a noun. Oh dear. I do have an idea for this but must see whether it will work.

5. I must get into my study and WRITE and stop reading which is a form of procrastination for me.

First posting

So this is my blog about trying to get into the habit of writing regularly.

I belong to a writing group so I have two challenges to begin with:

1. A piece to be read at their next meeting - no being a coward and chickening out.
2. An entry into the competition even if it isn't a winner.

I also want to subscribe to a writing magazine and enter their competitions.

Then I need to get my novel out of its hiding place and re-write it. I have to change a lot of it as my life has overtaken the story - more of that anon - but its still a good story and needs telling. Here goes!!
